Vintage Honda Motocross Motorcycles
Honda has been the world's largest motorcycle manufacturer since 1959. The first motorcycle was the 2-stroke Honda D-Type Dream released in 1949. In 1972 Honda presented their first dirt bike - the beginning of an amazing road ahead. Their first XR was the Honda XR75 - one of the industry's first true off-road bikes to roll off the production line. The Honda XR500R was released in 1979, quickly gaining acceptance, winning races all over the world. The Honda XR600R was released in 1985.
The innovative Honda CR250M Elsinore, simply known as the Elsinore, was introduced in 1973 - the first production motocross bike made by Honda. It was fast, reliable, light-weight and had great handling. The first production liquid-cooled 250cc bike released by any manufacturer was the 1981 Honda CR250R. Before the liquid-cooled CR250R, all models were air-cooled, which didn't allow for all power to be used because of inconsistencies in temperature. The liquid-cooled technology would change all motorcycles forever, thanks to Honda.
